While Buddies currently have no intention of becoming a charity or applying for any kind of funding, through exterior sources or this group, we are all firmly very committed to helping the community in each and every way we can. More announcements will be made soon regarding this subject 😎

Thanks Marc, it’s all coming together nicely. This shows even more how we have a distinct advantage over Facebook groups as we really do have the flexibility that we are starting to use to our full advantage 😎😎 Thank you to all of our members for being such a lovely bunch of people, and for helping us make this transition to a web based group 😊😊😊

Just one of many things we do from my community group. This bundle of items is going out to a young boy who has leukemia and has to travel quite a distance for treatment.

As many of you know, although I don’t brag about it and mostly pretend I don’t have it, I am suffering with stage 3/4 COPD. I’ve now been permanently signed off work having done many things in my life, the last being the owner of a small catering business. We moved to this beautiful part of the world having lived in London, Sussex and then Runcorn briefly. The area is stunning, the people are friendly, and I don’t think I’d ever want to live anywhere else. Most of you know that during a particularly tough time in my COPD journey I became very depressed and lonely, despite being surrounded by a very loving and close family. They suggested I join a local group, and I joined a friendship group. I changed this from a normal Facebook group into an active and vibrant charitable group with a large membership, and introduced many original ideas which were hugely successful. I left that group and decided with my family that we wanted to do something bigger and better, a real community based group that welcomes everyone, and following discussions among us, Marc kindly offered to build this brilliant platform. Buddies North Wales may not be the oldest kid on the block, but mark my words, we will be the best. We welcome all constructive criticism. The site as you now see it is still under construction, and you will see more ideas being introduced over the coming weeks and months, and perhaps some sections will be removed. This group will be tailored to the needs of you, our community. Thank you for reading and I look forward to meeting you all 😊

Black and White? (Under the age of 40? You won't understand.) My mum used to cut chicken, chop eggs and spread butter on bread on the same cutting board with the same knife and no bleach, but we didn't seem to get food poisoning. Our school sandwiches were wrapped in wax paper in a brown paper bag, not in ice pack coolers, but I can't remember getting e.coli Almost all of us would have rather gone swimming in the lake or at the beach instead of a pristine pool (talk about boring), no beach closures then. We all took PE ..... and risked permanent injury with a pair of Dunlop sandshoes instead of having cross-training athletic shoes with air cushion soles and built in light reflectors that cost as much as a small car. I can't recall any injuries but they must have happened because they tell us how much safer we are now. We got the cane for doing something wrong at school, they used to call it discipline yet we all grew up to accept the rules and to honour & respect those older than us. We had 50 kids in our class and we all learned to read and write, do maths and spell almost all the words needed to write a grammatically correct letter......., FUNNY THAT!! We all said prayers in school and sang the national anthem, and staying in detention after school caught all sorts of negative attention. I thought that I was supposed to accomplish something before I was allowed to be proud of myself. I just can't recall how bored we were without computers, Play Station, Nintendo, X-box or 270 digital TV cable stations. We weren't!! Oh yeah ... and where was the antibiotics and sterilisation kit when I got that bee sting? I could have been killed! We played “King of the Hill” on piles of gravel left on vacant building sites and when we got hurt, mum pulled out the 2/6p bottle of iodine and then we got our backside spanked. Now it's a trip to the emergency room, followed by a 10 day dose of antibiotics and then mum calls the lawyer to sue the contractor for leaving a horribly vicious pile of gravel where it was such a threat. To top it off, not a single person I knew had ever been told that they were from a dysfunctional family. How could we possibly have known that? We never needed to get into group therapy and/or anger management classes. We were obviously so duped by so many societal ills, that we didn't even notice that the entire country wasn't taking Prozac! How did we ever survive? LOVE TO ALL OF US WHO SHARED THIS ERA. AND TO ALL WHO DIDN'T, SORRY FOR WHAT YOU MISSED. I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING! Pass this to someone and remember that life's most simple pleasures are very often the best. AAAAh, those WERE the days!!!!

As we are now slowly building up the new community, and a few of you are there posting away, we thought it would be great to add you guys some new sections to post in. We now have new sections for different interests, which we hope you will enjoy. While we have put a lot of thought into which sections would be used, which are suitable for the site etc, of course we always value your feedback. A couple have already done so, but if you do have anything you want to add your input into anything at all, post up in the feedback area. If you dont want to do it there, feel free to message any of us directly. Thank you guys for making this a friendly place to be. Long may it continue.

This year instead of having an advent calendar and gorging myself on chocolate I have decided that each day I will fill a box with items for ladies who have hit on hard times and who would probably spend what little bit of money they have on other members of their family. So I am filing my box with items such as sanitary towels, tampons, roll on deodorant, spray deodorant, disposable razors, body lotion, hand cream new knickers and any other female necessities I can think of. I will then take them to the women's centre in Rhyl. Hopefully if anyone else wold care to follow my example I am sure we would be making some ladies very happy.

Hi Saz I try various crafts like pebble art, decoupage vinyl. christmas wreaths I’ve always liked working with artificial flowers. I’m in a group called mail a smile where we send and receive gifts and I’ve recently been sent a needle felting kit so at some point I would like to try this too. Everything is on hold at the moment has I’m with my mum every day and we’re just awaiting some results for her x

Evening! I've been thinking (dangerous, I know). Please could we have sections for: >> Events - where we can share events we're running or supporting, and look for events we might want to attend >> Jobs and Hires - where we can search for or request jobs. E.g. a cleaner might search for requests for cleaners, and someone who wants a cleaner can leave a quick post asking for a cleaner! >> Alone Together - where home workers or the self employed can work together - not necessarily on the same project but a time where people can come together to do their admin tasks rather than being at home on their lonesome. Networking is everything! 😄 That's it for now but I'll be back 😛 🙂 🙂

I don't like rap but listen to anything and everything else. Love the 60s and 70s especially the who... Been to 4 of their concerts and each was better than the last I played clarinet and piano and toured all over the UK in the youth orchestra I was in and even got to go to Germany and play in music festivals there

I like lots of different genres depending on my mood. 50s 60s 70s and 80s all great! Some classical too. I bought a guitar and taught myself some basic chords but got bored and gave it away. Then inspired by Vanessa Mae I bought a violin but everytime I tried to play it the dogs next door would howl also it made my Granddaughter cry! So I gave that up too lol Found an advert for singing lessons so went along only to be told I needed to give up smoking! I guess the story here is I have no musical talent and do not have the voice of an Angel...but I cant arf dance!!! Haha

I though everybody was from Manchester or Liverpool when we came to live here - asked the young lad who put our kitchen in which part of Manchester he was born in and he said - Colwyn Bay - I felt such a fool.
